As you know, we clear ads running on TV and VOD for our shareholder broadcasters, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky. With a trusted and established clearance process, we’re always keen to diversify our offering. Introducing, Ad Pause clearance in The Library.
Channel 4 now requires Clearcast clearance for Ad Pause campaigns airing across their streaming platforms. The process is similar to submitting VOD or TV ads, requiring a clock number and three stages to approval, with the only difference being the file specs we require for upload.
What is Ad Pause?
When a viewer pauses content, a static ad takes over the player, with the player controls disappearing after five seconds. The ad remains on screen until the viewer exits or resumes the content, allowing for maximum exposure. Ad Pause is a high impact ad format, providing a unique opportunity to engage with viewers during their VOD content consumption.
Ad Pause clearance requirements
Make sure to read our Ad Pause tech spec before submitting, but for now, here are the headlines:
- The image must be held for a minimum of five seconds on screen.
- Only submit one version of your ad pause material for clearance.
- Your material must be clocked with a slate and a clock number.
- Make sure to select the ‘intentionally quiet’ toggle when creating the material.
- We require a 0-second freeze at the end of the material.
- For Ad Pause submissions based on existing approved ads, provide the historic submission or clock numbers to help us check the approved claims.
- For new creatives with claims, upload your substantiation with the clock. This may require additional time for claims to be checked and approved.
