Inspiring the young in our community is a joy. The mix of projects means we can guide and advise children on things like their homework, right up to their career prospects.
Working with Inspire
We’ve been lucky enough to have the independent charity Inspire help us create ties with local schools and charities for this work. Staff regularly attend careers workshops to talk to students about their employment history and give worldly advice on how to break into industries, including interview prep and practice, and employability skills.
Work experience
We’ve also offered students some real-life, hands-on work experience opportunities.
Over the years we’ve invited classes of year 4 students from local schools to Clearcast as part of their ‘Work Week’ programme. They get the chance to feel out the work environment and what we do at Clearcast.
We also hosted two Year 10 students for their work experience week in 2022. The students had the opportunity to work with both our copy and operations teams, being given an overview of the work that is involved with clearing adverts from script stage to delivering edits to broadcasters.
As part of our commitment to the local community, from 2015 to 2019 we partnered with Haverstock School in Camden. We hosted two interns on 6 week programmes annually as part of their Career Academy Programme.
Our aim is to give young people an introduction to the world of work and insights into how the advertising business works from a TV advertising perspective.
Mentoring
We’ve also worked with Haverstock School on their mentorship programme, assigning mentors to Sixth Form students who were preparing themselves for exams and the university application process. One of our staff members mentored a student through college and university, giving them advice on typical life and career hurdles. The programme has been very rewarding for those involved and we hope to continue this unique experience with local schools.
Green Dragon
In July 2022 we were invited to sponsor a Green Dragon’s den pitch at a local primary school. The initiative, run by Camden Think & Do, challenges Camden children to pitch ideas of ways they can make their school greener to a panel of 6 judges. We are funding a small project at Hawley Primary School that will allow every child in the school have their own plant to look after as well as helping towards funding a new greenhouse, pots, soil and other tools needed to encourage their interest in conservation and gardening.
